SECOND SEMESTER

[FIRST SEMESTER]

1. List of required Core Courses:

  • Advanced Reporting & Writing (for ALL students) - 6 credits
  • Media Workshops (for ALL students) - 6 credits
  • Masters Thesis (for ALL students) - 4 credits

2. Advanced Media Concentration: Students are required to choose one from the following (see the note below):

  • Advanced Television Studies - 3 credits
  • Advanced Radio Studies - 3 credits
  • Advanced Newspaper Writer's Seminar - 3 credits
  • Advanced Magazine Writing & Editing - 3 credits
  • Advanced New Media - 3 credits

3. Advanced Area of Specialisation: Students are required to choose one from the following (see the note below):

  • Advanced Political Reporting - 3 credits
  • Advanced International News Coverage - 3 credits
  • Advanced Business and Financial Reporting - 3 credits
  • Advanced Development Journalism - 3 credits

Note:
Students are required to choose the Advanced Media Concentration, and the Advanced Area of Specialisation that is a progression of the Media Concentration and Area of Specialisation they selected in the First Semester.

4. Electives: Students are required to choose two from the following (see the note below):

  • Investigative Reporting - 3 credits
  • Sports Reporting - 3 credits
  • Opinion and Editorial Writing - 3 credits
  • Covering the Arts and Cultural Events - 3 credits
  • Covering Social and Religious Issues - 3 credits
  • Rural Reporting - 3 credits
  • TV Documentary(TV only) - 3 credits
  • Radio Documentary (Radio only) - 3 credits
  • Covering Science and Technology - 3 credits

Note:
TV Documentary elective is open to TV students only. Radio Documentary is open to all students. However TV and Radio students are free to choose ANY two electives.
