Job Placements in the Face of COVID-19

IIJNM recruitment season got off to a brilliant start with 18 of our students securing placements from reputed media companies in the first week itself. It began with a pre-placement talk by Robin Paxton, Bureau Chief at Thompson Reuters. Reuters has selected eight of our students for its Bangalore bureau. Cogencis, Deccan Herald and ULTRIA have also extended offers. Times Internet has shortlisted candidates and will conduct interviews shortly. We are in close contact with the recruiters and look forward to resuming the campus placement process as soon as possible.

The journalism community in India recognizes the quality of our program and the caliber of our students. Our graduates are now working in CNN, Bloomberg, CNN-IBN, CNBC, Times Now, Rediff, Google, Reuters, Press Association-UK, and major newspapers like Times of India, Indian Express and Economic Times, and many other leading online media organizations.

The Career Placement week is a culmination of a gruelling year spent reporting, writing and shooting events, giving headlines, talking anchor leads, and a host of other duties that make our students shine among aspiring journalists.

In the recent years, most graduating students received attractive starting job offers, some more than one, during the campus placement weeks itself; over 95% of the graduates received well-paying job offers by the end of the academic year. The success of our placement activity is unmatched by any other journalism college.

The media industry is undergoing changes, and it expects all journalists to be proficient with the skills involved in all mediums of news production. IIJNM’s programme incorporates and trains all students on the skills required to work in multiple mediums. IIJNM trains its students to avail each and every opportunity that the field of journalism has to offer. They are assisted throughout the year in seeking employment possibilities. The process starts with students creating strong portfolios with articles and video clips that cover a variety of events and news to be published in college websites, YouTube and magazines, and different media.
